$130 million in upgrades for Wyndham Vale

The 2017-2021 Wyndham City Plan and 2017/18 Budget have been adopted, outlining Wyndham City’s plan for the next four years as well as the key initiatives to be delivered this year.

Capital works will be a major part of the Council’s spending over the coming 12 months, with a record $133.11 million set aside to build the infrastructure needed by the growing community. This includes:

Buildings - $37.45 million

This financial year, $6.34 million is going towards the upgrades of the Tarneit, Wyndham Vale and Point Cook Community Centres which will see the existing facilities transformed into exciting mini town halls. The revamped centres will build on the existing services Council offers from its community centres, along with more space for meetings, programs, study, activities and more.

Local roads - $35 million

This Budget includes $9 million towards the construction of a new arterial road between Greens and Blackforest Roads, acting as a new link between Werribee and Wyndham Vale. The new road will remove thousands of vehicles from local roads in Wyndham Vale, including Haines Drive, Ribblesdale Avenue and Greens Road. It will also reduce travel times to the Wyndham Vale Railway Station

$6 million is going towards the widening of Tarneit Road, between Hogans Road and the Good News School, with two lanes going to four. The project will improve traffic flow, cut travel times, and increase road safety along the busy stretch of road. The works will also include the construction of a new Wetlands Park, and new traffic lights at the intersection in front of the school.

Recreation and leisure facilities - $11.8 million

Council is proud to partner with the State and Federal Governments, Werribee Football Club, AFL and AFL Victoria to fund the redevelopment of Chirnside Park. The new and improved sport and recreation hub will feature a new state of the art pavilion, facilities for women’s football, sports based training spaces, community spaces, and more.

Mossfiel Reserve in Hoppers Crossing is also set be transformed, with the master plan for the site currently underway. This Budget includes $3.95 million, going towards the construction of a brand-new pavilion, new sporting fields, and more.

These initiatives are a great sign for the future residents of Grace as they can count on investment into the growth and improvement of their community. Those moving to Grace will benefit from upgraded infrastructure now and much more in the future as more people begin to recognise the potential of the Wyndham Vale area.
