Wyndham City begins construction

Wyndham City’s $130 million construction plan through 2017-2021 has commenced and five major projects are underway.

Point Cook Community Learning Centre – Expected completion mid 2018

This $4.7 million project will allow for a larger range of council services to be provided locally and have more space for community learning activities – including meetings, programs, study and outdoor spaces, as well as a better library.

Skate Park Area – Expected completion November 2017

Construction and landscape works have kicked off for this exciting project. Construction has also begun on the sheltered structures for barbecue areas. The final project will be a community space featuring a regional level skate, BMX and scooter park along with recreational spaces for everyone to enjoy.

Playground – Expected completion late 2017

This $3.5 million project has wrapped up, with a 1.3-hectare park featuring a range of facilities for people of all ages. Among the additions are Netball and basketball courts, a playground, shelter and barbecue areas, and two new bridges.

Tarneit Road – Expected completion February 2018

This busy Wyndham City road is doubling in size. Bulk earthworks are continuing and pavement construction is underway. The final $6 million project will see the number of lanes going from two to four between Hogans Road and Caraleena Drive, improving traffic flows and cutting travel times. The works will also include the construction of a new Wetlands park – at which earthworks have kicked off.

Chirnside Park – Expected completion December 2018

The steel frame for the first floor of the pavilion has been erected, and the walls and roof works are underway. The new and improved sporting hub will feature a new state of the art pavilion, facilities for women’s football, sports based training space, community spaces and more.

These initiatives are a great sign for the future residents of Grace as they can count on investment into the growth and improvement of their community. Those moving to Grace will benefit from upgraded infrastructure now and much more in the future as more people begin to recognise the potential of the Wyndham Vale area.
