Over 3,500 trees to be planted in Wyndham

Beginning April 2nd of this year, the Wyndham City Council will plant more than 3,500 trees through Wyndham’s residential streets.

The initiative is part of the council’s long-term goal of increasing the amount of tree canopy coverage in the municipality.

The effect of this is three-fold as it not only improves the attractiveness of the neighbourhoods and provides homes for native birds but also creates shade for homes and pedestrians.

The council’s City Forest and Habitat Strategy includes a target of reaching 25% tree canopy coverage in Wyndham’s streets and 35% coverage in its parks by 2040.
