Councillors have voted to award the contract for works on Forsyth Road between Ashcroft Avenue and Sayers Road, which will increase the number of lanes from two to four.
Works on the State Government’s Western Roads Upgrade package has commenced – upgrading and widening eight of the city’s busiest roads. Works on the Forsyth Road interchange will take place ahead of the State Government’s upgrades to reduce possible disruptions.
This will mean reduced speed limits in the meantime and drivers are encouraged to allow more time for travel.
$37 million of the City’s budget has been allocated to road upgrades. These include the duplication of 1.6km of Tarneit Road between Sayers and Leakes Roads; and the widening of a bust stretch of Leakes road between Tarneit and Derrimut roads. Works are expected to be completed by 2020.
2.8km of gravel road will be widened and sealed on Boundary road between Derrimut road and the Regional Rail bypass, which will be complete by 2019.
The intersections of Dohertys and Davis roads, Boundary roads and Davis roads, and Boundary and Tarneit roads will also be upgraded by 2019.
